Single ride or day ticket?

A single ride is valid for one hour in one direction, transfers included. Day tickets run until 4am the following day and come as single or family versions for up to five people.

Rule of thumb: from two rides a day the day ticket beats single tickets. If you mostly walk around the old town and take one tram to the Blue Wonder, singles are cheaper.

The lines you actually need

Line 11 links the zoo, the Großer Garten park and Neustadt station and is the most convenient route between the major museums. Line 4 runs from the main station through the old town to Radebeul-Ost.

For Dresden Airport use S-Bahn line S2 from the main station or Neustadt; depending on the fare zone it may need a small surcharge beyond the cheapest DVB day ticket.

Validation, checks and luggage

Paper tickets must be validated at the small machine on the tram or bus before travel; digital tickets in the app are valid automatically from purchase or your chosen start time. Checks are frequent and fines cost far more than the fare.

Normal luggage travels free; bicycles need a separate bike ticket.
